Bedford College, Modern Methods of Construction building achieves ‘Net Zero Carbon in Operation’ rating!

Working alongside main contractors Ashe Construction and client Bedford College, works comprised the remodelling and refurbishment of the existing single storey construction workshop, but also creating an enlarged facility at the east end of the building to facilitate plant and machinery for the new modern methods of construction workshop.

Cheshire installed a full mechanical and electrical package focused on low energy led lighting, mechanically ventilated heat recovery systems, PV installations to the roof, ASHP (Air Sourced Heat Pumps), and enhanced systems to upgrade the River Ouse heat recovery system. During construction, an additional £300k of PV Installation was added to our contract, with works undertaken across four sites on the college campus as a result of a successful Salix funding award to the college. This took the total value of our works to £1m!

A fantastic opening event celebrated the completion of this ground breaking ‘Net Zero Carbon in Operation’ building.
